Why can’t I find a wireless network?
If Windows doesn't identify a
network that you think is in range of your pc, it could be because of any following
causes:
- First check if the WiFi switch on your pc is turned off.
If your pc
has a switch, make assured it's turned on.
- Your pc is too far from the router or access point.
Transfer
your pc nearer to the router or access point..
- The WiFi router or access point is off or isn't working correctly.
There are
two things to try:
- Make confirm the router or access point is ON and the WiFi signal light is well-lit.
- Rearrange the router or access point by turning it off, wait at least 10 seconds, and then turning it ON.
Warning
- Changing the router or access point will provisionally disconnect everyone from the network.
If you
don't achieve the access point or network, communicated the network
administrator.
- There is intrusion from other devices.
There are
two things you can try in this situation:
- If any devices like these are close your pc, turn them off temporarily or move them.
- Change the router or access point settings to use a altered WiFi channel, or set the channel to be selected automatically if it's set to a secure channel number.
- Windows isn't organized to connect to the right type of network.
- Type netsh wlan add filter networktype=network type.
- The router or access point is full.
The router
or access point might be too busy to reply to new applications if there are
several pcs or devices using it. If you have other pcs that are connecting to
the network, try temporarily disconnecting them.
- The network you're observing for is set to not broadcast its network name (SSID).
WiFi
routers and access points can be set up so that they don't broadcast the
network name. In this situation, you can't notice that the network is in range
(in order to connect to it) unless you've previously connected to the network
or you manually connect to the network using the service set identifier
(SSID). To connect to a network that's not
broadcasting, maintaince these steps:
Click to open Manage WiFi Networks.- Click Add, then click Manually create a network profile.
- Input the network information.
- If you want to automatically connect when the network is is available, select the Start this connection automatically form box.
- Select the Connect even if the network is not broadcasting form box, click Next, and click Close.
The
network will be new to your list of networks and will be existing to connect to
when your pc is in range of the network. To connect to the network, trail these
steps:
- Go to open Connect to a Network.
- Click Unnamed Network, click Connect, and then type the network info.
The
network will be added to your list of networks and will be available to connect
to in the next time when your pc is in range of the network.
- Your network administrator is blocking access to positive networks.
If you're
on a shared network, your network administrator might be using Group Policy to control your access to WiFi networks. If you think there
are WiFi networks in range of your pc that aren't detectible or that you can't
connect to since your network administrator has blocked access to them, contact
your network administrator for help.
- The WiFi network adapter is in monitor mode.
If a
network monitoring program is organized on your pc, the WiFi network adapter
will be set to monitor method, which avoids Windows from connecting to WiFi
networks. To connect to a WiFi network, handy the network monitoring program or
follow the guidelines in the program to exit monitor mode.
